O’Neal joining Celtics

Miami Heat’s center last season, Jermaine O’Neal decided to leave the blockbuster trio in south beach to take his talents to Boston. The 31 year old veteran feels that the end of his career is drawing near and he wants to win a championship this year. He thought that Celtics have more potential in winning a championship than the a bunch of all-star guys that were recently assembled. Chemistry is a must to win championships. Lack of it may lose the chance, he didn’t want to get into that trouble.

Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge got his team back. Having Paul Pierce and Ray Allen signed their contracts for the Celtics and keeping the Big Three intact. With Kendrick Perkins recovering from his knee surgery and Rasheed Wallace’s retirement, adding a guy like Jermaine O’neal will be a great replacement on the center position. The Eastern Conference champions are ready to face the challenges in the coming season.

Celtics lost Tony Allen to Memphis Grizzlies. The Celtics wanted to re-sign Allen, but weren’t willing to give Allen a third guaranteed year. Boston offered him only two-years, at $5.2 million, with a partial guaranteed third year. At that point the 28-year-old Allen thought of entertaining the Memphis offer, which has no partial guarantees or team options. Allen will be playing with guard O.J. Mayo, small forward Rudy Gay.

Having Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen on guard positions, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett on forward positions and the newly acquired Jermaine O’neal at center, while Glenn Davis and Nate Robinson off the bench, and with Kendrick Perkins recovering from injury, how can you stop the Celtics in defending their crown in the east? This team is set for a rematch with the Lakers in the NBA Finals.
