This February 2010, the UFC has a total of 11 bouts on the card including a matchup of Hall of Fame fighters such as Randy Couture and Mark Coleman. There are five fights in the pay-per-view portion of the card and six preliminary bout. This is gonna be a very exciting match and I bet everyone is dying and can’t wait for the preliminary matches to start.

To all UFC fans out there specially to the fans of Lyoto Machida and Mauricio Rua, let’s wait for this very day and let’s cheer for our favorite UFC fighters! Let’s all watch the Ultimate Fighting Championship 104!

Back when I was still in college, I got addicted in playing this arcade game. Back then, there was still no Ragnarok Online to play with. Before and after classes, my friend Mark F. (aka Jwoarang in Tekken Zaibatsu forums) and I would go to University Mall beside McDonald’s near La Salle and would battle the “seniors” there. We would usually get owned and get beaten, but it was a starting point for us to improve. Like in any sport or any game, better competition will make one a better player. A senior student named Hector became our good friend and sparring mate and he was the best among U.M. players. The master was a measuring point for everyone who would want to improve their game.

I would often use Kazuya and Hwoarang as these were my main characters that time. Mark would use Jin and Hwoarang. Sooner and after I’d give Jin and Kazuya a try because Hwoarang was quit complicated to use and improve, and I’d become what they call a “Mishima Whore”. Soon we would find a lot of friends in that place, including Roel, a 3rd year student.

Months passed I and Roel joined Synergy’s TTT tournament at SM Megamall. In that tournament, all of the best from all arcades (or should I say, all dojos) in Metro Manila met. Too bad Mark and Hector weren’t available during those times. There was an entrance fee of P100 as far as I can remember. I made a few friends while competing there. All of my matches were, ummm, humiliating defeats. But in any case it propelled and inspired me to become a better player.

After getting badly beaten and humiliated in that tournament, I decided to concentrate on playing the Changs, Julia and Michelle. This team’s offensive and turtling game suits my fighting style. Going back to our dojo (or our arcade at U.M.), I was a better player and everyone was surprised. Despite the fact that U.M. players have the reputation of rarely traveling to other malls/arcades to challenge other dojos, I visit other arcades like the ones in Robinson’s Galleria and SM North EDSA and challenge players there. And I’m proud to say that I got most of the wins. I joined other tournaments afterwards and performed well despite not reaching the finals. Thus, I gained the reputation of being one of the best Changs players in the country.

After being very quiet in the off-season with dull moves like signing former superstar yet geriatric Penny Hardaway and letting go roleplayers like Eddie Jones and James Posey, the Heat sent out-of-shape forward Antoine Walker, Wayne Simine (who is supposed to be primed for a breakout year), Michael Doleac and a conditional first-round pick to the Timberwolves for Mark Blount and Ricky Davis.

Ricky Davis, a 6-7 guard/forward, has averaged 14.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.06 steals and 30.4 minutes in his career. Mark Blount, meanwhile has averaged 8.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 0.91 blocks and 23.7 minutes while shooting 51.3 pecent from the floor and 73.6 percent from the foul line in his seven-year career.

The Wolves gets Michael Doleac, a 6-11, 262-pound center, averaged 3.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.5 assists in 13.4 minutes a game. They additionally get Antoine Walker who averaged 10.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists and 25.1 minutes as a Heat. This former all-star who spent 11 seasons in the NBA has career averages 18.0 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 36.2 minutes a game. Last but not least, Simien during his two-year career has averaged 3.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 9.9 minutes a game.

How will this trade impact both teams?

The Heat finally gets rid of Antoine Walker who is in the downfall of his career and will never seem to get back to his former all-star form. We’ll get to see if he can revive his career once he arrives in Minnesota, where his veteran presence and leadership is needed by the young rebuilding squad. The Wolves also get promising Wayne Simien, who may now be competing major minutes at the small forward and may also get some backup time for the Timberwolves’ major acquisition, Al Jefferson. Wayne Simien is a good pick for the rebuilding Wolves, who has sent franchise player Kevin Garnett to the beantown, Boston Celtics.

In the meantime the Heat gets Ricky Davis, who is an upgrade to Antoine Walker at the small forward position. This player may be enigmatic due to his image of off-court problems but has showed improvements in the past years. Mark Blount surely will get minutes backing up old big guys Shaquille O’Neal and Alonzo Mourning at the center and can play backup to Udonis Haslem at power forward. We’ll probably see a starting lineup of Shaq, Haslem, Davis, Dwayne Wade (once he comes back) and either Jason Williams or Smush Parker.

The Heat had a very quiet off-season. They failed to get Mo Williams and Charlie Bell out of Milwaukee Bucks, and only settled for a very old former all star Penny Hardaway and former Los Angeles Lakers point guard Smush Parker. We will be watching within the next months how this trade affects the former champs, whose roleplaying veterans Eddie Jones, James Posey and Gary Payton have already packed their bags and left Florida.

Chapter 1: The Beginning of the Other Universe and the War Between Deceptikonz and Armageddon

In the beginning of our universe, we were rattled by the war of the Untouchables versus Steel Wolves, which gave birth to faction wars Brotherhood versus Ascension and finally Blood Pact versus Finality.

Then there came the birth of another universe. This other universe was given the name “Loki”. In the Chaos universe, we saw a mass migration of players; some group of friends searched for the great wormhole that would transport them to join the Loki universe. During the birth of another universe, just weeks after the Chaos universe opened, there came the birth of the first family, The Beginners, led by Pewee Torres, the very first level 99 power player in Loki. This guild was actually the first guild to be established in the Loki universe. Another very old guild to be established is today’s powerful clan Astronix, led by Sojiro who is now known as the mighty and famous champion, oiram. Moreover, other powerful clans and families were Onslaught, Virus, Genesis and Unholy, which gave birth to ruling Loki personalities, and most probably in the next chapters of this chronicle we shall try to narrate the unending war of Onslaught and Unholy. During these ancient times, the eventual 2004 RWC Champions, the Unholy, is a quiet yet capable guild which is secretive in building up its forces as it organizes itself for a future war. They do not just recruit just anyone in their clan; they have to know the player before it joins their ranks. Due to this fact, the numbers of this guild was low.

After the birth of these guilds, we now focus on a great war. We are going to focus on the war of Armageddon versus Deceptikonz. Comparatively, we can allegorize their war with Untouchables versus Steel Wolves or the clash of the Titans in Greek mythology: the Armageddon and Deceptikonz war destroyed worlds and tore everyone apart. Almost every power player of the Loki universe was asked to join an allegiance, whether it is Armageddon and Deceptikonz.

Power players Locke, escalados, batongbakalmetal, fish, fast switch and co. founded the Deceptikonz regime. They guided their members to level and hunt endlessly and aim for supremacy in the region. They destroyed and mutilated everyone in PVP arenas. However, the guild Armageddon, led by DrSwabe and Rodney Mullen, was always standing on their way to gain supremacy.

Their PVP rivalry brought despair, confusion and anarchy in the PVP arenas. Sometimes, Deceptikonz would win and reign supreme. Sometimes, it would be Armageddon. Basically, they were tie in all aspects, until the gods of the servers have decided to form a tournament that would determine which powerful clan will be sent to the LG League. The gods created this tournament and we would see the Deceptikonz beating Armageddon to be Loki’s representative in the LG League. Eventually, Deceptikonz would overthrow the Untouchables of the Chaos universe in the LG League with the help of an assassin with a Sonic Blow build. This gave the Deceptikonz a great honor not only to them, but to the pride of every citizen of Loki. They became the first legend of Loki.

However, legends do last. Dissension would split DKz (shortcut for Deceptikonz) apart. Their break-up caused their members to search or build new clans and guilds. Some joined Archanfel with Acram Cross. Some joined Onslaught. After the DKz was scarred, Genesis would rise and rival Armageddon in the PVP arenas. Almost every night there were heated fights between the two guilds. Virus and Unholy would soon join the PVP wars, though newspapers would always carry the headlines of Genesis and Armageddon wars.

Chapter 2: The Dark Ages

DKz and Armageddon were the first legends of Loki. But as I said, legends do last. Prior to the WOE era and aftermath the Genesis/Armageddon wars, SSSS, an overruling wizard, decided to search for a wormhole that would send them to the Fenrir universe. Pioneers of this great guild would soon follow SSSS to Fenrir. SSSS would soon be the founder of Armageddon in Fenrir.

The scarred yet rebuilding DKz would take place as Genesis’ rival in PVP. DKz is lusting for its now-gone glory and fame. Armageddon is now forced to rebuild and restore the glory it once mustered. Heaven’s Fire, popularly known as `Jello` , with the support of Spawn, Anakinskywalker and Legolas would create Armageddon’s second generation. We will see in the later episodes how the second generation of Armageddon would fare.

Speaking of other early Loki guilds, the legend Onslaught would make a name for themselves due to the power of their level 99 Wizards and Hunters, who can match every party Genesis and DKz would throw in the PVP arenas. Then also came a guild that we can compare to Chaos’ Alliance of yesteryears; the guild Alpha-Omega. Its mass, open recruitment would give birth to Alpha Omega-Emerald, Alpha Omega Amethyst, Alpha Omega Turquoise, and Alpha Omega Diamond. Soon this guild would give birth to 30 to 40+ clans. Again, we’ll see how these guilds fare once we move onto the next episodes of this chronicle.

LUG has finally approved the proBaldur booth, the Itlogs booth and the Civitas Dei booth. So they’re expecting us to design and build a presentable and winnable booth within two weeks?

I was plaaning to make a write-up about Tekken 6. Yet I’m too tired to think. I’d love to comment about the new father and son rivalry of Kazuya and Jin, but it has to take a backseat first I guess. I hope Namco would be able to outdo itself. Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection was already a masterpiece. My only grudge about it is they never released it for the PlayStation 2 so that masses of gamers can play it. Boy I wish I can afford a PlayStation 3 to be able to play its online version so I can challenge wannabe’s in the States.

Siege was….siege. It’s already the 2007 version. Members wait for the Emergency Call instead of walking to their designated spots. A large part of a guild’s success is the well-placed and timed EC of the guildmaster. My GM character, Ms Hikaru Mithcristien was piloted by our guildmate, the priestess <shame>. We play at the office and I do not wish to give the impression that sieging in the office is my priority (since sieging is allowed in our office’s IT Room). I even asked the wizard SilverRain to pilot my other account so that pots and supplies can be distributed. As usual, we battle our rival guild, Sustainer of the Realm, the 2007 RWC and RPC Baldur champions, and I personally think we and our friends Bozanian Beast Fightrer and Goonz guilds won the day. =))

I do not condemn such things. I had once said that deviants were more likely to be famed than conformists. I’ve always adhered to the idea that man will assume roles in society; that some of us are gonna be losers, some of us are gonna be stupid, some smart, some skilled, some great, etc. We all assume roles as part of a social food chain, cannibalistic in nature, affected by societal factors.

Blogdom is a witness to such things. As it is a splatter of opinionated people, it’d almost be an impossibility to not find jokes. That while is understandable for people to have their bias, favorites and subcultures to connect to, there is that one group of genetically enhanced individuals, bionic clowns, who please themselves to disagree. And I don’t mean criticisms and corrections. I’m talking about haters.

It’s bad enough when they’re anonymous; it gets worse to think they have a blog of their own. When you write posts supporting freedom of opinion and you bash people for the things they write, there’s a hypocrisy in that. Such a joke some people can be huh?!
