Airport Security for Incoming Flights to U.S will be Overhaul Based Characteristic Traits News and Updates

News is up about the Screenings inside Airports whose flights will head to U.S. Security Procedures have now been upgraded to a whole new level. Travelers flying into the United States will be thoroughly screened; the subject will be screened based on whether they exhibit any of the characteristics of suspected terrorists. This order has been Issued and starts this month, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, has announced these changes, for the safety of U.S and its citizen.

This New layer of security measures was brought about after the attempted Christmas Day bombing of a Detroit-bound flight. Flights coming from 14 specific countries these countries are: Afghanistan, Algeria, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. Anyone coming from these countries will be automatically faced in the extra screening before they fly to the U.S.

A senior administration official says that Additional screening will be conducted on passengers traveling into the country if they match the description of characteristics that have been passed on. The “current, intelligence-driven and threat-based characteristics” will be the one to judge the passenger if he/she will undergo the extra screening.One good example is this, when the U.S intelligence states the characteristics such as “a Nigerian man between the ages of 22 and 32”. Under the new policy all Nigerian men within that age range will undergo the extra screening for security measures before they can board the flight going to U.S.

Here are the Security measures that will be used to check the passengers with check-in and boarding process, including the use of explosives trace detection, advanced imaging technology, canine teams and pat-downs. This has been thoroughly announced so that people would not be intimidated on the enhanced security and screening measures that will be done on the airport.

To prevent the growing Terrorist attacks the senior U.S. security officials have been in the past 3 months meeting with the foreign countries and discuss how to enhance aviation security, many countries have adopted enhanced screening methods such as the  use of body-scanning machines.
